It is often said that the scientific or philosophical direction for the era we live in is determined by movie directors. The evidence of this statement is found in abundance in the movie Her. Directed by David Taube, the movie is in fact a glimpse of human thought, feelings, and future. It is centered around one of the biggest tech revolutions of the current century called Artificial Intelligence. Coupled with an American dystopian lifestyle, a seemingly middle-aged man falls in love with a computer program that is fully tuned to have feelings or emotions. The film dwells on the theme of the philosophy of mind which is rather a vast subject and hence, explained in this blog. The blog also explores the counter-argument and bring into the limelight a well-published academic work that helps in explaining the themes explored in the film.
